![]() you just set things up appropriately for the type of software and goals you have, whatever that may be. And of course you can have remote (network) deployment to other machines, both physical and virtual. ![]() I am running the Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX camera, which is quite old, in Win 10 with the LWS 1.1 driver. It's pretty much always worth doing unless you literally can't for some reason, for anything you're developing that runs below Ring 3 (protection ring of "userland" applications) in a more privileged ring, or for anything that isn't easy or safe to simply fire up on your development machine like an ordinary userland executable. Check this web page for compatibility of the camera with Windows 7 or Windows 8 and download the driver and install it first before connecting the camera. I made it sound fancy for the sake of humor, but virtualization and a pipeline for automatic deployment on a virtualized system for debugging and testing is a pretty standard practice for the development of drivers as well as kernels, bootloaders, etc. 1 Im trying to install an old Logitech webcam onto my laptop (which currently has a webcam) but cant find any drivers that work, even on the Logitech website.
